We are praising God as Haiti has not fallen into utter despair despite the recent concentrated gang attacks in the capital city that began on February 29. After almost a month of chaos, calmness started to return in April, with gang control decreasing and not spreading to other regions.

A transitional government has been inaugurated following the ex-Prime Minister's resignation on April 25. This 9-member interim government, consisting of diverse political and social figures, includes a president (Edgar Le Blanc Fils, former Senate leader), 5 other governing members, and 2 observers. The transitional government's objective is to enhance security, plan elections, and transfer power to an elected president by February 7, 2026.

The Port-Au-Prince Airport is scheduled to reopen on May 2, while the Cap-Haitian airport in the north has been operational for over a month, now serving flights to Les Cayes (which is an hour from our headquarters). Despite the challenging circumstances, all our ministries have continued to function smoothly.

Please keep Haiti in your prayers as the situation remains volatile, with the gangs showing resistance to the new plan. Specifically, pray for the police officers and special units tirelessly combating the gangs without national attention. If you wish to receive more frequent and specific prayer requests, kindly respond with a "yes" to this email, and we will include you in our prayer list.

Regardless of all of the mayhem, some amazing things have been accomplished this month ~ the completion of the LSF clinic second level and the ground breaking of the Lines School Expansion.

The LSF Clinic expansion has been a need for over a year with the clinic busting at the seams with patients. Using every available space for patient care, including supply closets for blood draws and hallways for patients on IV, it was time we made a change. Construction started in December and now we are ready to move into the second level to care for our patients more effectively and with more dignity. Thanks in huge part to PAWS Pet Resort!
The Lines School Construction is going to bring the space and opportunity for the Lines School to offer High School classes and some vocational programs. Currently the 10th graders at the Lines School are meeting in a hallway because there are no more classrooms available. The school already had the capability for classrooms to be built on the second level and we are hoping that they are ready for students to start the 2024-2025 school year! Thanks in huge part to Shalom Christian Reform Church!
